Samsung has started rolling out the stable version of its Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus to users

It seems that Samsung has concluded its Android Oreo  update beta program after testing a number of builds to ensure that the update does not come with any bugs. The company has already started rolling out the update for its beta testers in Europe. According to a report by Android Central, Samsung is planning a wider roll-out of the update later this week. The report also points out that beta users will need to download a 487 MB to upgrade from the beta to the stable version. There is no information on the total size of the update for regular users who are updating from Nougat. The report only notes that users should expect an update with a “significant file size”, given the number of new features and changes that come in this update when compared to the updates that came with Android Nougat. According to a separate report by SamMobile, Samsung has not added support for Project Treble in this new update, which we think is likely because of hardware limitations. For the uninitiated, Project Treble is the latest effort by Google to ensure that smartphone manufacturers can roll out updates without reworking vendor-specific, device-specific low-level software. This separates vendor implementations from the Android OS framework, making the process of designing the framework based on the latest Android version ’easier, faster, and less costly for manufacturers'.
