Samsung Gear Fit 2 and Gear IconX officially announced

Samsung has announced two new products yesterday at an event in New York - a new activity tracker and wireless ear-phones. Both these products were rumoured and leaked  earlier, and now we finally have an official confirmation about them.

The Gear Fit 2 is a follow up to the original product which was launched back in 2014. It comes with an updated design and it is larger, giving it a more watch-like look. There is a new textured strap as well as a Gorilla Glass 3 to protect the 1.55-inch Super AMOLED display. The wearable will come in two size variants; small (size of wrist: 125 ~ 170mm) and large (size of wrist: 155 ~ 210mm) and three colour options including black, blue and pink in both sizes. The specs include a dual core 1GHz processor with 4GB of internal storage, an optical heart-rate sensor, GPS connectivity, IP68 certification (waterproof and dustproof), and a 200mAh battery that is said to last up to 3 days of use or 5 days of standby time. Apart from showing all your health statistics like steps, sleep, various activities, and heart rate,  it will also show a timeline view of your daily activities, maps your running or cycling and of course notifications from your smartphone. The band can also store music on its 4GB of memory and it can also control music apps on your smartphone as well as play Spotify music. Samsung also unveiled the Gear IconX which is their take on truly wireless earbuds. These earphones don’t have any wires and they just simply fit in your ears. Apart from working as a standard pair of Bluetooth headphones, they also come with 4GB of onboard storage, touchless controls for controlling your music, and a bunch of fitness tracking abilities when paired with S Health app. Battery life is said to be about 3.5 hours when listening to music stored on the earphones and 1.5 hours when streaming Bluetooth audio from a smartphone. The earplugs are charged by inserting them into a capsule which can hold about two full earbud charges. Pre-orders in the US begin tomorrow and the Gear Fit 2 will officially go on sale on 10 June for $180 (Rs 12,000 approx). The Gear IconX will be arriving in Q3 and there is no confirmation of the price.
