Samsung has taken the wraps of a new smartphone for the South Korea market, which is eerily similar to the rumoured Samsung Galaxy On7 (2016). The SM-G600S that will be exclusive to South Korea’s SK Telecom packs in a large display along with budget hardware, but features something special in the form of a T-DMB chip. The Galaxy Wide comes with hardware specifications that are similar to the On7 smartphone. It packs in a 5.5-inch HD TFT display, inside we get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage that is expandable. There is a 13MP camera on the back and a 5MP camera up front and the device is powered by a 3000mAh battery, which can be removed. Coming to software, the Samsung Galaxy Wide packs in the latest bits from Google in the form of Android 6.0 Marshmallow along with the usual Samsung TouchWiz skinning. The special T-DMB chip lets the smartphone hook on to digital terrestrial broadcasting that is available in the region. The Samsung Galaxy Wide (SM-G600S) is up for sale and is priced at 319,000 Korean Won (approximately Rs 18,617). For now, there are no details about global availability. But as pointed out by SamMobile, the handset has a close resemblance with the unannounced Galaxy On7 that bears a similar model number (SM-G600F). It was recently spotted in a import listing on its way to India. Tech giant Samsung Electronics Co Ltd is poised to issue guidance for its best quarterly profit in more than two years, propelled by a surge in mobile earnings on the back of robust sales of its flagship Galaxy S7 smartphones. The South Korean giant will disclose its estimates for second-quarter earnings on Thursday, with analysts predicting a strong mobile division contributed to a 13 percent jump in operating profit from the same period a year earlier.
