Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 press renders leak, hints at a S5-like design

After a bunch of rumours about Samsung’s AMOLED tablets earlier this month, evleaks has gotten its hands on, what looks like, the final press renders of the upcoming Galaxy Tab S 10.5. The tablet looks like their current crop of Tabs, only with a narrower bezel on the sides. The back seems to have the same dotted texture as the Galaxy S5. This doesn’t seem to be waterproof though as there’s no flaps for the microUSB port.

The tablet looks fairly slim and it’s an interesting colour choice; much better than the traditional white or black. There’s stereo speakers on both sides and a microSD card slot on the right. We don’t have a picture of the top and bottom but we can take a calculated guess that it will house the rest of the ports (if any) and the buttons. You also get a rear camera and an LED flash along with what appears to be an IR blaster above the sensor. The two circles at the bottom left and right is a bit of a mystery as to what they represent.

Earlier reports speculated that the tablet will have a fingerprint sensor and all the features (Fingerprint Unlock, PayPal Payments, Private Folder and Samsung Apps login) associated with it, just like on the  Samsung Galaxy S5 .

Under its hood, Galaxy tab S will likely have Octa-core Exynos 5 (5420) SoC with big.LITTLE architecture. The SoC will be made up of four 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 cores and four 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 cores. It has been coupled with 3GB RAM. The GPU will be 6-core ARM Mali-T628. The tablet is expected to come with Android 4.4.2 Kitkat out of the box. Other rumoured specs include a 8MP rear camera with 1080p recording and a 2.1MP front camera.  Connectivity features include Bluetooth 4.0 LE / ANT+, GPS, DLNA, Wi-Fi ac, GLONASS and an IR blaster.

Samsung will be unveiling the Galaxy Tab 10.5 and possibly a sister 8.4-inch tablet as well at an event held in Ney York, on June 12. We’ll be there at the launch to bring you the play-by-play as the event unfolds.
