After a no show in the tablets categoryat the **Mobile World Congress** this year, Samsung has officia lly pulled the wraps off the Galaxy Tab 4 series, which comes with thinner and lighter slates than the Galaxy Tab 3 range. The company has now announced three new tablets in the series namely, Galaxy Tab 4 7.0, Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and Galaxy Tab 4 10.1, named for their display sizes. The Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 was recently revealed in a press render from prolific tipster **Evleaks** . Smallest in the Tab 4 series, it sports a 7-inch display with 1280 x 800 pixels of resolution and runs Android 4.4 KitKat. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1.5GB of RAM. On the camera front, one can expect a 3-megapixel rear snapper and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with 8GB and 16GB onboard storage options, expandable via microSD card slot. Tipping the scale at 276 grams, the tablet comes with 107.9x186.9x9 mm dimensions. It will be available in LTE and Wi-Fi-only variants. The next is the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 with a larger 8-inch display featuring 1280 x 800 pixels of resolution. The 8-inch tablet measures 124 x 210 x 7.95 mm and weighs 320 grams. It is also powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1.5 GB of RAM, along with 3-megapixel rear facing camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. On the storage front, one can expect 16GB onboard storage expandable up to 64GB via a microSD card slot. It will be available with Wi-Fi/3G or LTE option. It runs Android KitKat and comes fuelled by a 4,450mAh battery. Lastly, the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 sports a massive 10.1-inch display featuring the same 1280 x 800 pixels of resolution as the 8-inch Tab 4. It also retains the processor and camera features as seen in the other two variants. The 16GB model comes with expandable memory slot up to 64 GB. The tablet runs Android 4.4 KitKat and is fuelled by larger 6,800mAh battery. It lets you choose from Wi-Fi/3G and LTE options. The Tab 4 10.1 weighs 487 grams, and measures 243.4 x 176.4 x 7.95 mm. There is no word on the pricing, but the tablets are expected to be available by the second quarter in black and white colour options. While it’s great that Samsung has decided to add to its tablet portfolio, we think a full HD display would have been better suited for the 8-inch and 10.1-inch tablets, as that would be on par with competition such as the iPad Mini with Retina display and the Nexus 7.
