Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 edge launched in India starting at Rs 48,900; pre-orders open till 17 March

At an event held in New Delhi, Samsung introduced the the Galaxy S7 at a price of Rs 48,900 while the S7 edge is priced at Rs 56,900 for the 32GB handset. One will get a chance to pre-book the device between 8-17 March. Those who pre-book the smartphones by March 17 will also receive the Samsung Gear VR headset, bundled for free. In terms of specifications, the Galaxy S7 features a 5.1-inch display and measures around 7.9mm thick whereas the Galaxy S7 Edge with its 5.5-inch display is slimmer at 7.7mm thanks to the dual-edge curved display. The Galaxy S7 Edge weighs around 157 grams and the Galaxy S7 weighs around 152 grams. Samsung has bundled both the phones with an Always-on display which lets you see the date and time along with all your notifications without having to unlock your device for the same. ![Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge 1](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S7-Edge-1.jpg) Both the devices are powered by Samsung’s octa-core Exynos 8890 processor paired with 4GB RAM. Samsung Galaxy S7 series sports Android 6.0 Marshmallow along with the TouchWiz UI skin atop it. With the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, the Edge user interface now has two columns of apps that lets you quickly access more apps by just swiping inwards from the edges. On the camera front, both the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge come with a dual-pixel 12MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. Both the cameras sport a maximum aperture of f/1.7, which looks quite impressive on paper. Samsung has ensured that the rear camera is almost flush with the body. ![Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge 4](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S7-Edge-4.jpg) Just like its predecessor flagships, the Samsung Galaxy S7 series does not come with a removable battery. However the Galaxy S7 sports a 3000mAh battery whereas the Galaxy S7 Edge sports a 3600mAh battery which is a bump up from the previous generation.
