As Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked launch event nears, it is obvious that tipsters will leak out as much as they can before the hype dies out. After the launch date for the event was revealed just a day ago, we now have another leak of the much-awaited smartphone itself, but as an added bonus we get details about its variant as well. The smartphone that has leaked out through tipster Evan Blass is none other than the Samsung Galaxy S7 and alongside it stands the Galaxy S7 edge in what appears to be a press render.

[caption id=“attachment_297703” align=“aligncenter” width=“640”] ![Samsung Galaxy S7 S7 edge back](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S7-S7-edge-back1.jpg) Image: Evan Blass[/caption] While the new leak reveals just the back of the smartphones, they still reveal plenty of other details. For starters, we now have an idea that the standard Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge models will differ not just with the display and design but form factor as well. The render reveals that the Galaxy S7 edge will stand taller by an inch and hopefully a bigger display on the front is the reason for the same. Also revealed from the leaked render is that both smartphones will spot a mix of metal and glass in their construction, which is similar to what we had on the Galaxy S6 and the S6 edge models launched last year. While both smartphones sport an almost pebble-like form factor, with corners that have been rounded even further, there is also a noticeable glean from the 2.5D glass on the back. The camera module along with the flash and the heart rate monitor get a bit recessed and somehow seem to sit flush with the rest of the surface. Recently Samsung revealed the launch date of the Galaxy S7 smartphones along with the possibility of us looking at a new Gear VR as well on 21 February, just before the Mobile World Congress (MWC) kicks off. So far the specifications that have been revealed by various sources online include a 5.1-inch display on the Galaxy S7, while the Galaxy S7 edge model is expected to sport a 5.5-inch one. The resolution of both the displays is expected to be a QHD array with 2560 x 1440 pixels. What is new and improved is definitely the battery that gets bumped up to 3000mAh for the standard Galaxy S7 and a bigger 3600mAh battery for the S7 edge model. Inside, both models are expected to sport the monstrous Exynos 8890 that shattered AnTuTu benchmarks recently. Lastly, there is the camera that now sits flush with rest of the surface but is expected to pack in a smaller 12MP sensor instead of the 16MP one on the current models.
