Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge demand exceeds expectations; company ramps up production

Samsung seems to have increased production for its latest curved-display smartphone, the Galaxy S6 Edge, to meet the growing demands. Looks like, customers are more attracted towards the Galaxy S6 Edge rather than the Galaxy S6 variant sans dual edge display. The company has reportedly began production for the S6 Edge at a third factory, in order to keep pace with the growing demand for the device in the smartphone market space. A report by Bloomberg shares that the South-Korean giant has now added a new production line, dubbed A3, which will enable Samsung Display to bring up the total production to five million display units per month, a substantial increase over the previous production of mere two million display units per month. Citing a source related to the matter, the news site further said that the plant is now online, though the company had previously planned on using the new factory sometime in June.  The new production line uses a facility south of Seoul that is located near one of the company’s existing plants, which currently makes curved screens. The demand for Samsung’s new smartphones has reportedly exceeded company expectations since they went on sale. The report points out that Samsung now has, three plants that make displays using organic light-emitting diodes, or OLED, which offer sharper images at lower power than most liquid-crystal displays. The company expects to sell more than 70 million units of the new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
