Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5 receive firmware update in India: Report

Samsung has not started rolling out an OTA update for Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Samsung Galaxy Note 5 devices in India. The build numbers for the Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ firmware are N920GUBU2AOK3 and G928IDVU2AOK8, respectively. SamMobile reported that both devices have received an update around 100MB in size, with a changelog that is similar to the first OTA that rolled out. The changelog offers improved call quality, improved security along with battery usage optimisation. In addition, it also includes the general Android security patch for the month of November. Smartphone shipments in India jumped 21.4 percent in the July-September quarter to 28.3 million units, buoyed by a three-fold jump in demand for 4G-enabled devices, according to a research firm IDC. Smartphone shipments stood at 23.3 million units in the same period a year ago. The shipments increased over 6 percent from 26.5 million units in the April-June 2015 quarter. Samsung was the largest player with 24 percent share of the smartphone market, followed by Micromax (16.7 percent), Intex (10.8 percent), Lenovo Group (Lenovo and Motorola) (9.5 percent) and Lava (4.7 percent.)
