Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom with 20MP sensor leaked; tipped to launch next week

While the latest buzz is around Samsung’s newest flagship Galaxy S5 making its way into the Indian market soon, yet another Samsung device has now surfaced.

According to a Polish site named, Samsung has built a Galaxy S5 variant that focuses on camera optics dubbed S5 Zoom. The details are leaked from a presentation are in the form of hand-written notes, as no photos were allowed.

This isn’t something new as we’ve previously seen the Galaxy S4 zoom, release soon after the S4. However, the report points out that the new S5 variant would come with a sleeker body and without a protruding lens, unlike its bulkier predecessor. Now, this doesn’t mean the device won’t support 10x zoom, as that's clearly visible on the notes. So Samsung has managed to make the body slimmer while retaining one of the biggest USPs of the camera. Moreover, Samsung will also upgrade the sensor from 16MP seen last year to 20MP CMOS sensor for the S5 zoom.

It will reportedly also feature optical image stabilization, a feature missing in the Galaxy S5. One can also expect Xenon flash and a zoom ring placed under the user’s thumb and not around the lens as seen in the S4 zoom.

Looks like, the camera abilities won’t overshadow rest of the features. Samsung has ensured that the device comes with no less than a 4.8-inch display with 720p resolution. Under the hood, one can expect a quad-core 1.6GHz processor and 2GB RAM. The device will run on Android’s latest KitKat flavor, along with a layer of TouchWiz UI.

GSMArena has also managed to confirm some tidbits revealed by the Polish site. However, it hasn’t revealed specifically which of the aboce specs were confirmed by its sources. We may not have to wait too long to find out as the S5 Zoom is rumoured to launch next week.
