Looks like the war of the flagships has begun. While **HTC One M8** arrives in the Indian market for Rs 49,900, Samsung’s Galaxy S5 has witnessed a price drop by a couple of thousands. Online sites like Flipkart, Snapdeal are now selling the device for as low as Rs 48,880. However, it should be noted that official Samsung India store still shows a whooping price tag of Rs 51,500. However, Flipkart is selling the white model for the said price, while the black model is still priced higher at Rs 50,499.

Snapdeal is also selling the ‘Shimmery White’ model for Rs 46,831 while the black and blue variants are sold for around Rs 51,000. So the price drop could also be the result of no takers for the white models of S5 and not just because of the launch of the M8.   The Galaxy S5 is already available across the globe, while the HTC One M8 will hit store shelves in India from the first week of May. The M8 has the quintessential HTC design and this time around there’s more metal than ever before in the construction. Some other specs of the device include 5-inch full HD display, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 2600mAh battery, Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Sense 6 UI, 16GB/32GB storage, 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and 2GB of RAM.   While there is a **lot to like** in the HTC One M8, but nearly  **all reviews**  were critical of HTC’s choice of retaining the 4-megapixel or HTC Ultrapixel camera, which was panned last year for bad colour depth and terrible performance indoors. Considering that the Xperia Z2 has a 20-megapixel camera, it has a 5-times higher resolution camera, while the Galaxy S5 has 4-times higher resolution camera, the HTC One M8 certainly seems at a disadvantage.   Find out how the HTC One M8 stacks up against the **Samsung Galaxy S5 and Sony Xperia Z2** .
