It looks like the Galaxy S2 will not be getting Android 4.2 Jelly Bean after all. The erstwhile Samsung flagship currently runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean but may not make it to the next version thanks to issues with TouchWiz.
A report by German site Connect has revealed that while Samsung had included the Samsung Galaxy S2 in the list of phones that will be making it to Android 4.2 (and subsequently the rumoured Android 5.0) it is detracting on its promise for the handset’s upgrade. The reason is supposed to be “adjustment problems in the TouchWiz interface.”

This pretty much means that Samsung Galaxy S2 devices will be stuck on Android 4.1.2 forever. Considering the phone had originally launched with Android 2.3, reaching the Jelly Bean stage is a pretty massive jump for the Galaxy S2.
The lack of Android 4.2 update for Galaxy S2 has raised speculation that even Samsung’s Galaxy Note may not be making the jump. The Galaxy Note came with more or less the same hardware as the Galaxy S2 and while there is no confirmation, it looks like the phablet is doomed to be stuck on Android 4.1.2 as well.
There’s some good news, though. Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus is still in line to get the Android 4.2 upgrade, even if the original is out of the race. The wait is still on for Samsung to reveal what exactly its roadmap is as far as system updates are concerned.
