Samsung Galaxy S II Screens Getting Some Flak

If you’re hell bent on buying Samsung’s latest and possibly graetest (till date)  flagship smartphone – the Galaxy S II, hold on for just a minute. The latest bit of buzz surrounding the device that’s touted to be the greatest Android smartphone ever, is that the screen is a bit quirky and has a yellowish tint to it.

A member named Erethnor of the XDA Developers forum created a thread titled “Display problem/ yellowish left side” and apparently, the posts in this thread are just growing in number with many users having the same issue. From what the member says, it looks like there’s a yellowish tint on the left side (about 1/3) of the Galaxy S II. The tinting doesn’t happen every time but mostly when brightness is quite low. The discolouration is supposedly quite subtle, but can be seen where there’s white text on a darker background. While the community seems to be raving about this issue right now, if you’ll recall, back in mid March, the now ‘out of stock’ (in some places) Apple iPad 2 also had similar issues with light leakage. That didn’t seem to have any effect on it’s sales so I think it’s safe to say Samsung has nothing to worry about.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

The Galaxy S II just made its grand appearance in India more than a week ago, and has still not made it to the US. Samsung hasn’t made any official comment on whether it’s a defect that develops after time or whether there’s a whole batch that have this problem for various reasons. One thing’s for sure, if this problem persists, it’s quite likely to affect the sales all around the world.
