Samsung recently announced its 2016 A series handsets on 5 December. While the handsets and their hardware specifications went official, what was not announced, were the prices. Considering that the Galaxy A3, A5 and the A7 are some premium-looking mid-range handsets, pricing becomes a really important factor and thanks to Samsung's China website, we have just that.
According to the Samsung China website, the smartphone maker has priced the Galaxy A5 at CNY 2,398 (approximately Rs. 25,000) and the Galaxy A7 at CNY 2,699 (approximately Rs. 28,000). Strangely, the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) is nowhere to be found and may be listed later.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 for now is the largest of the lot if you do not count the recently discovered Galaxy A9 model that is supposedly priced at CNY 3,000 (approximately Rs 32,000). The A7 sports a 5.5-inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 p and weighs 172 grams. The internal hardware includes a 1.6 GHz octa-core processor, 3 GB of RAM and support for LTE category 6 networks. Powering it all is a 3,300 mAh with a Fast Charging battery.
The next in line is 155 gram Galaxy A5 that sports a 5.2-inch Full-HD Super AMOLED display, 2 GB of RAM, and a 2900 mAh battery that supports Fast Charging. It measures 144.8×71.0x7.3 mm and weighs 155 grams. The A5 as well as A7 feature Samsung Pay’s Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST), NFC payment systems and fingerprint scanner.
The smallest and the lightest Galaxy A3 (pricing not available yet) sports a 4.7-inch display, LTE cat 4 network access, 1.5 GB of RAM, and a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor. All three run Android 5.1 Lollipop. They will come with 16 GB onboard storage that is expandable up to 128 GB via micro SD card slot.
