Samsung announces SGH-X510 Clamshell

Samsung has just announced a new entry level camera phone, the SGH-X510, at Mobile Asia 2006 in New Delhi. The clamshell phone is light (76gm) and slim (around 2cm), though not as slim as some of the recent Ultra Edition phones from Samsung. The tri-band SGH-X510 has GPRS and MMS features. It has a modest VGA camera, a 128x160 65k color display, 3MB internal memory, Java MIDP 2.0 support, a photo editor, an Infrared port, and a roomy 1,000 entry phonebook.

The phone is targeted at the “fashionable and price conscious Indian youth,” but it’ll be difficult to pitch it to them since it has no FM radio. Also, the 3MB memory is a little too less for the youth who will miss a memory card slot. There were no prices announced, but it should be priced somewhere between Rs. 5,500 and Rs. 6,000, as the features and specifications are very similar to the SGH-X640 clamshell that has almost double the amount of memory in the SGH-X510.
