Samsung Adds A Battery Of Wave And Omnia Phones For India

Samsung Wave gets reinforcements through a set of Wave phones, called the Wave 525, Wave 533 and Wave 723. Like the first Wave phone, these phones are based on the Bada OS and have something for everyone. It also adds the Omnia 652 to their Omnia series.

All three phones have a 3.2 inch QWVGA touchscreen, 100 MB internal memory expandable up to 16 GB and come with a free 2 GB card. They are meant to support social networking, device synchronization, content management and an A-GPS feature which provides location based services in Google Maps.

Wave 525

The Wave 525 has a Social Hub feature which lets you integrate all your contacts, messages and mail in the phonebook itself, so now you can send messages, update your Facebook status, and do more, all from the phonebook itself. It has a 3.2 MP camera, an FM Radio and a music player. The home screen can be further customized up to 10 screens and has a Sweep Interaction phonebook feature. The Dolphin Browser 2.0 supports HTML5 and there’s connectivity through BT 3.0, USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11/b/g/n. It’s priced at Rs. 8,800 which looks a lot more reasonable than expensive.

Wave 533

Wave 533 is a full slider with a QWERTY keypad. The phone has native Facebook and Twitter clients, making it optimized for the screen. It supports a horde of Instant Messenger applications like Palringo, G-talk, Facebook, Yahoo and MSN chats. Apart from BT3.0 EDR and micro USB, the rest of the features are from the Wave 525. Coming to the price, at Rs. 9,900 it’s a tad higher.

Wave 723

The Wave 723 is a sleek device at 11.8 mm and has most of the features that the other Wave phones have like Sweep interaction with phonebook, Social hub and all. Connectivity features are the same as the Wave 525. This phone boasts of a 5 MP camera with LED flash, and if you find your pics worthy for a show-off you can do so with the Communities 1.0 feature which lets you put up pics and other files on Facebook, Twitter, etc. With the given features, Rs. 13,500 sounds like a deal.

Omnia 652

The Omnia 652 is more of a business phone and is based on Windows 6.5. The ActiveSync feature allows access to push E-Mail on MS Exchange server or Google. Microsoft Office 2010 allows you to create, view and edit important PowerPoint (only view & edit), Word and Excel documents. It’s 3G enabled and has a camera for video calls. It has networking and connectivity features like the Wave phones and adds a 2.0 MP camera to it. The Omnia 652 is priced at Rs. 10, 600 which quite honestly is not bad.
