While the developer is the same, the publisher is different. After THQ died, Deep Silver bought up the rights of the franchise and is now publishing the games. You may better know Deep Silver as the publisher for Techland’s Dead Island series.

Saints Row 4 was originally going to be a DLC for Saints Row: The Third—titled Rise of the Dominatrix—but Volition later announced that the DLC will instead be a part of Saints Row 4.

“When I looked at the Enter The Dominatrix expansion in production at Volition, I was blown away by the ideas and desire to expand the fiction of the franchise,” said Jason Rubin, THQ’s President. “I asked the team what it could achieve given more time, more resources, and a broader scope for the project. We all agreed we wanted to play that game. When it comes to Saints Row, it’s clear our fans want bigger, better, and even more over the top, and that’s why  Enter The Dominatrix will now be incorporated into a vastly expanded, full-fledged sequel, scheduled for calendar 2013.”

“We believe the potential for this sequel is far greater as a full-priced, full-length, high quality, connected experience,” he added.

As of yet, it is unknown whether Saints Row 4 will continue the story of the series. The events of Saints Row: The Third take place shortly after the end of Saints Row 2, where the Third Street Saints have taken over the city and have become cultural icons all over the world. Saints Row: The Third chronicles the Boss taking over the new city of Steelport and getting revenge on the other gangs for killing Johnny Gat.

Saints Row 2 took place a few years after the first Saints Row, at the end of which the Boss was caught in an explosion and was hospitalised. This gave the perfect excuse to show off the new character creation tools in the game. Saints Row 2 shows how the Boss reassembles the Third Street Saints and takes over the city of Stilwater.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
