After launching the video app Vine, Twitter is all set to launch a new music app. According to CNET, Twitter acquired the music discovery service We Are Hunted last year and is using its technology to build a standalone music app…The app, to be called Twitter Music, could be released on iOS by the end of this month, according to a person familiar with the matter.
We Are Hunted was a service that allowed users to search for the most popular new music on the Internet. The site showed a stream of new music in a tile-based user interface.
Meanwhile Ryan Seacrest of American Idol also tweeted, confirming the existence of the Twitter Music app.

So what exactly will the app do? As the tweet reveals, the App also shows trending and upcoming artists to users.
According to TechCrunch, the app will give artists and songs recommendations to users. This will be based on information gathered about the user, thanks to personalization derived from what accounts people follow on Twitter.
As far as the music is concerned, it will be stored on and delivered to a user via SoundCloud integration notes TechCrunch.
Meanwhile We Are Hunted posted on their blog, stating,
While we are shutting down wearehunted.com, we will continue to create services that will delight you, as part of the Twitter team.
There’s no question that Twitter and music go well together. Artists turn to Twitter first to connect with fans, and people share and discover new songs and albums every day. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on at Twitter.
More on this one the Twitter Music app is actually launched.
