As Samsung is still trying to revive its losses due the Note 7 fiasco , rumours for the upcoming Galaxy S8 are already doing the rounds. We last heard that Samsung is planning to give it all and make the flagship a beast of a phone which could include a 4K display. The latest rumour however is a bit of concern. According to SamMobile, Samsung will follow Apple and say goodbye to the 3.5mm audio jack. This means that it will be relying on a USB Type-C port for charging, data transfer and audio output. It is true that the Korean smartphone maker does take certain design cues from the iPhone, but removing the headphone jack could be huge disappointment. At the time of the Note 7’s announcement, Samsung VP Justin Denison mocked the iPhone by saying “Want to know what else it comes with? An audio jack, I’m just saying.” When Apple removed the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus it called it “ courage .” That courage might not go very well for Samsung as it is already under a soup for killing the Note 7, its most high-end smartphone, due to its unstable battery. This is still a rumour though and should be taken with a pinch of salt. In my opinion Samsung should play safe and retain the legacy port if it doesn’t want more consumers to criticise the brand.
