Nokia looks all set to host an important event in India on January 10, 2013. The hush-hush event, according to our sources, will be held in New Delhi fuelling rumours that Nokia is finally launching the much awaited Lumia 920 and 820 devices in the country.
By the looks of it, India will get a taste of the globally hit Windows 8 handsets as Nokia seems intent on making the Lumia 920 and its younger sibling Lumia 820 hit the shelves by third week of January.
Set to cost somewhere between Rs 38,000 and 40,000, the Nokia Lumia 920 will cater to the higher price bracket while the 820 will come at a price of anywhere between 25,000 and 28,000. Nokia is still keeping a tight lip about the prices and the date when the handsets are set to be available to Indian users. It was rumoured earlier that the handsets would be launched in India on January 15, 2013.

The Lumia 920 is priced in Singapore at SGD 899, which roughly translates to Rs 40,750, whereas the Lumia 820 costs SGD 699, which is approximately Rs 31,700. However, one should not expect the prices to be the same when the handsets come to India—the additional taxes could make the devices cost a bit more.
Earlier in December, it was revealed that the Indian Lumia 920 variant is set to support nine 4G bands. Compared to its closest rival iPhone 5, which supports only five LTE bands, Lumia 920 is going to have a significant edge in this respect. Another win point for Lumia 920 is that it is pentaband WCDMA as opposed to the iPhone being quadband. Nokia has already gone all out with ad campaigns backing up the impending release of the Lumia handsets.
The Lumia 920 was officially unveiled at the Nokia World 2012 event in New York City. Featuring a polycarbonate body, the Nokia Lumia 920 packs in a Snapdragon S4 processor, as well as a PureView sensor. It also comes with the Blink app, which is the smartphone’s Burst mode. The Windows Phone 8 smartphone will feature an LCD display, which is a little better than the HD displays available now.
The Nokia Lumia 920 comes with the latest Nokia PureView Camera that Nokia claims can capture five times more light than rival smartphones. The Camera produces brighter pictures without flash, even indoors and at night. The phone also features built-in wireless charging, making it easy to keep the battery topped up throughout the day.
The younger sibling of the 920, the Nokia Lumia 820 features exchangeable covers in a range of colours. Besides wireless charging, both the Lumia handsets have a sensitive touchscreen and Nokia ClearBlack display technology. They also come with the full suite of Nokia navigation applications, including Nokia City Lens and Nokia Music, which streams unlimited music directly to the phone.
