Continuing the trend of launching watered down versions of its popular flagship devices, news has it that Samsung is already preparing for a mini variant of its newest Galaxy S5. Now, Sammobile has been tipped about the specs of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 mini.
The S5 mini will reportedly sport a 4.5 inch Super AMOLED display with 720p resolution. Although the screen size is smaller than the S5, it is certainly bigger than the S4 mini display. It is expected to run Android Kitkat 4.4 version, just like its bigger sibling.
Though the processor used to power the S5 mini isn't confirmed, it is highly speculated to be armed with a quad-core Snapdragon 400. It is said to come with an 8-megapixel camera at the back, which has been stepped down from the 16-megapixel snapper found in the S5. The front-facing camera comes fitted with a 2 megapixel camera, just as the Galaxy S5.
The S5 mini is also expected to come with slightly lower 1.5GB RAM, as compared to the 2GB RAM powering the Galaxy S5. The internal storage space is likely to be doubled to 16GB as compared to the S4 mini. The phone may be fuelled by a 2100 mAh battery; slightly higher than the 1900 mAh battery of S4 mini.
The S5 mini is expected to come with IP67 certification making it water resistant and also with an IR blaster. If these leaked specs are believed to be true, then the phone will some rugged features previously seen in the Sony Xperia Z 1 Compact. We will have to wait and see whether it will come with support for heart rate monitor and fingerprint sensor.
