Rovio Entertainment has revealed in a tweet that there are over 260 million active users of its games. The company is best known for its hugely popular Angry Birds game series that sees a whole bunch of displeased birds wreaking havoc trying to destroy the pigs. Rovio tweeted, “Over 260 million active users for our games means one thing: We’re not stopping here! Thanks everyone! #quarterofabillion”. Almost as soon as it tweeted about its feat, Rovio Entertainment tweeted again, announcing that as a gesture of thanks, it was reducing the price of the Bag Piggies."

“We’ve also dropped the price of our award-winning @BadPiggies, to say thanks! #quarterofabillion,” it said. A cute picture of the game accompanied the second tweet, saying “Now on Sale! Only 0.99$.”
Come 2016 and the Angry Birds movie shall be here. It was recently revealed that Rovio is celebrating the third anniversary of Angry Birds by announcing a movie about the wrathful birds. The company revealed that Despicable Me producer John Cohen was signed on as producer for the movie and David Maisel, former Chairman of Marvel Studios and Executive Producer of Iron Man, will be the executive producer. The feature film will be coming to theatres in the summer of 2016 and will be produced and financed by Rovio Entertainment. Rovio states that by following Marvel Studios’ example, which was created by Maisel, Rovio will produce and finance the movie outside the studio system and retain full creative control.
In May last year, the company announced that it reached one billionth Angry Birds download. Rovio didn’t specify who the billionth downloader was, which particular Angry Birds game it was or which platform the billionth download was acquired on. The download count, however, included all platforms and all the Angry Birds games that Rovio has made, which are: Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Rio and Angry Birds Space, as well as the free, light versions of the games. According to Mashable, Rovio Communications Specialist Sini Matikainen stated in an email, “We are so thankful to all of our fans for their support, and we can’t wait for them to see what we have coming up.” Rovio has even made a 21-second video to thank the fans for all their support.
Both YouTube and Angry Birds were the top free and paid apps respectively at Apple’s App Store last year.
