Rovio stops support for Angry Birds on Windows Phones and PC

Rovio is telling customers who reach out to the company that they are no longer supporting Angry Birds products on Windows phones or computers, according to a report in Windows central. Rovio is focussing only on Android and iOS for new releases. There are a handful of titles still on the Windows store, and those interested in playing these games can get it now before they are pulled. Support and updates for these apps have already stopped. The Angry Birds titles available for Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 mobile are Angry Birds, Angry Birds Go!, Angry Birds Star Wars, Angry Birds Epic, BadPiggies and Angry Birds Space. All these titles are free, except for Angry Birds Space which costs $3.49 (roughly Rs 235). Angry Birds 2, Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Action!, Angry Birds Rio and Angry Birds Transformers are some other Rovio titles not available on the Windows store at all, for any platform. Angry Birds Space is available for free on other platforms. Rovio was at one point consistently on top of application store charts, a position now occupied by Pokemon Go . Rovio has taken a number of steps over the past few years to attempt to regain the lost glory of the franchise. Rovio hired a new CEO , Pekka Rantala to revive the company after earnings from the apps halved, and the game could not retain its playerbase. Rantala has since stepped down. Rovio appointed Anurag Sachdeva as Country Director for India and South Asia, in an effort to consolidate the position of the company in the market. Rovio cut 213 jobs last year and 110 jobs in the year before that. Rovio is currently promoting a content update for its pinball variant, called Angry Birds Action! https://twitter.com/Rovio/status/752776596067586048
