Rovio releases update for Angry Birds, adds fifteen new levels

After the recent release of Amazing Alex for Android and iOS devices, Rovio doesn’t seem to be taking a break. Its flagship title, Angry Birds, has gotten a new update that adds a bunch of new stuff to the original game. According to a report by MacStories, the update to the iOS version of the massively popular game adds fifteen new tropical levels for players to fling around birds to destroy the pigs. The update also adds some new power ups that players can buy; King Sling, Birdquake, Super Seeds and  Sling Scope.

The King Sling upgrades the slingshot for “maximum power and velocity," the Birdquake brings the pig’s defenses crashing to the ground, Super Seeds turn the bird into a “pig-popping giant” and the Sling Scope lets you use laser targeting for “pinpoint precision”.

On starting the game after installing the update, you’ll get 20 uses of a power-up for free, and each day you get one additional use. If you can’t wait and there’s too much money in the bank to burn, there’s the option of in-app purchase bundles that give you more uses of the power-ups, ranging from a 5-pack of any power-up for $1.99, 10 uses of a single power-up for $0.99 or, for the more hardcore Angry Birds fans among us, 125 power-ups for $20.99.

Getting fifteen new levels and new power-ups!

The Finnish game developer recently released a new game for iOS and Android devices, named Amazing Alex. The game has both a free and a paid version for Android, but iOS devices only get the paid version. The game is set to be launched on other platforms, such as Windows Phone, Mac, and Windows as well.

The description for the game states: “Players can set objects up to bounce, pop, ricochet, bash, and crash into each other and create an elaborate Rube Goldberg device! With a houseful of toys to play with, there’s more than one right answer. Players can share their most creative solutions with friends and see what they came up with. With 100 levels across four locations, there’s a whole world of creations to explore!”

“We’re so excited for our fans to meet Amazing Alex,” said EVP of Games, Petri Jarvilehto. “We’ve taken our time polishing a fantastic game and believe we’ve created something fun and accessible for all ages. We’ve had a lot of fun with the game and we can’t wait to see what our fans come up with!”

The game allows you to build your own levels using 35 interactive objects. The levels can then be shared with your friends or with the whole world. Rovio states that with other fans constantly creating and uploading new levels, there are always new challenges to check out. Rovio claims, “Meet Amazing Alex, star of Rovio’s newest game! This whiz kid has a boundless imagination and a houseful of fun toys that can turn anything into a great adventure! From cleaning up his room to playing in his backyard, Alex creates amazing chain reactions to get the job done with the maximum amount of fun.”

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
