Rovio Mobile, developer of the mobile game, Angry Birds has announced that after the success of its toys, it’s going to get into baby products. The company, according to reports , has sold nearly 7 million Angry Birds toys (in addition to the success of the game, of course) and according to Vice President of Franchise Development, Ville Heijari, the company gets “a sizeable proportion” of its revenue from merchandise.

Rovio’s core business is games but licensing/merchandising is one of the fastest growing parts of the company,” Heijari said. The baby products will include things like blankets and clothes, which will be adorned with the Angry Birds characters. They will be produced by a company called SwaddleDesigns. According to the SwaddleDesigns website , the products will be out in October and people who preorder their products will get a free plush toy on a $50 purchase. It sounds like a good subliminal messaging tool, “Hey kids, play our game when you’re a little older!”. Either way, a blanket with the birds might be fun to have.

Paddy does not, we repeat, definitely does NOT belong in the category of Mac-head (yeh right!). She does get excited by her iPhone and her iMac and her iPod Nano and her Macbook and Bali's iPad and her future iHouse (patent pending). Ok, so maybe her head is a little bit forbidden fruit shaped. She likes shooting video (iPhone 4 camera zindabad!) and editing montages (Final Cut Pro zindabad!), whether the scene calls for it or no. In her spare time, she's either kicking it on stage with KB the keyboard or kicking butt at Taekwondo. see more
