Rovio introduces Angry Birds prepaid debit cards

Rovio seems to be merchandising to make complete use of its most popular game series - Angry Birds. The company has in the past made merchandise like apparel and accessories. According to  PCMag, the company is expanding its merchandising horizons, and has announced plans to introduce Angry Birds prepaid debit cards.

Rovio is partnering with Kaiku - a company based in California that offers prepaid debit cards. Users will be able to load the card from a bank account, credit card, direct deposit, or through PayPal.

“We launched Kaiku with a commitment to be a next-generation prepaid product for all kinds of consumers,” Kaiku CEO Jon Round said in a statement. “Angry Birds is one of the most popular global games today and therefore epitomizes widespread appeal. This makes Rovio an ideal partner to help us make prepaid a smart and affordable financial option in today’s increasingly cashless and mobile society.”

“Rovio and Kaiku share a common philosophy in that we love to delight our fans with products that are affordable and packed with great features,” said Rovio’s vice president Andrew Stalbow.

The card will be available to the public in early 2013.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that the PC version of Angry Birds will be getting a retail release in India through a tie-up between Rovio Entertainment and Milestone Interactive. The games available in India will be Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Rio, and Angry Birds Space, with the prices starting from Rs 499.

“We are proud to finally make the Angry Birds franchise on PC available to fans in India. The Indian PC gaming market is vast and playing Angry Birds on this platform will make the experience enjoyable for gamers and casual fans alike," said Milestone CEO Jayont R Sharma.

Angry Birds Space was updated with ten new levels. With the update, a player can get 10 new levels of the Red Planet, and the main concept of the story is that the Bad Piggies are still hiding out on the fiery planet with the commandeered Mars Curiosity Rover. The plot of the game is for the birds to recover the eggs and rescue the rogue rover.

The 10 new levels feature on the Red Planet, and it also includes Curiosity Rover boss level. Another feature found here is that if one can get three stars in all levels, one can unlock an antenna egg level. Also, if a hidden rover has been found, then a player can unlock a super-secret bonus level. There are all new space eagle bonus levels, one per episode. If one gets 100 percent on the space eagle destruction metre then one can unlock five new levels.

When Angry Birds Space was first launched the game as the name suggests is set in space and is available for iOS, Android, PC and Mac with a whole new set of characters, scenarios and of course, the twisted physics of space.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
