Ron Gilbert’s recent game—The Cave—is getting ported to iOS devices. The iPad version of the game will be making it to the App Store this summer, according to TouchGen . The tablet-optimised version was showcased by Sega at E3 last week.

Apparently, the iPad version of the game has gone through some major tweaking for the control scheme. Instead of taking the lazy way out and adding virtual buttons on the screen, the developers have instead changed the controls to work on taps.

Graphically, the iPad version of the game seems to look as good as any other version, only being beaten by the higher resolution PC and Mac versions. The frame rate is said to be smooth and there were no hitches while playing. The voice acting from the original version of the game will also be present in the iPad version. Despite the iPad version, there is no news yet on whether the game will be coming to iPhones and Androids.

The Cave is a puzzle-platformer made by Ron Gilbert in collaboration with Double Fine Studios. It has seven characters, out of which only three are playable at a time. Each character has their own unique personalities, abilities and backstories, and much of the game revolves around these characters co-operating to explore the depths of the titular cave. As they descend deeper into the cave, the characters learn more about themselves and how they got to their current predicament.

At the moment, The Cave is out on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. You can grab the PC version from Steam for $14.99, which roughly translates to Rs 870.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
