Tinder is seeing a surge in activity in and around the Olympics Village area.

Tinder is seeing a surge in activity in and around the Olympics Village area. Spikes have been recorded for daily active users, right swipes and matches. Tinder has released data from these activities. Activity was recorded from the opening ceremony on August 5 till Sunday, August 14. Tinder is awarding gold medals of its own to sports and the associated sportsmen that received the most number of right swipes over the duration of the Rio Summer Olympics.

If the sport was mentioned in the Tinder bio, or listed in the professions/ jobs section, then those profiles were tracked. The data shows that the most right swiped sports may not be aligned with the ones making the most news or capturing the most popular interest. For men, the most right swiped sport is Tennis. For women, the most right swiped sport is Table Tennis. This means that athletes with these sports listed in their bios or as jobs received the most right swipes.

For men, the sportsmen most in demand competed at Tennis, Weightlifting, Gymnastics, Sport Shooting, Judo and Boxing. For women, the most right swiped sports were Table Tennis, Field Hockey, Rowing, Weightlifting, Rugby and Swimming. Tinder claims to make 26 million matches each day around the world, and has cumulatively made 11 billion matches ever.
