I was wondering when the RIAA would be active again. Just weeks after settling with Sharman Networks they have now gone after the popular LimeWire network. In the complaint the RIAA has filed, it says that Lime Group LLC and its associates are responsible for “actively facilitating, encouraging and enticing’’ its users to steal music. Not only that, the RIAA further says that Lime Group LLC has built a business model that allows them to directly profit from “outright piracy”. In usual style, the RIAA is seeking damages including at least $150,000 for each illegally downloaded song. This lawsuit will be interesting to watch as Limewire is one of the biggest P2P networks in existence and has millions of users in its ranks. Records if they seized from Limewire have the potential to open up a whole can of worms.
