The excitement is building up as iOS 7’s release draws closer. Apple has added to this excitement by unveiling the brand-new iCloud website. With flatter icons and a revamped design, the website is going to be a handy companion to the iOS 7 system which will be released for the new iPhones, iPad and iPod Touch.

The new website was put into beta mode earlier this year by Apple and last was given a major makeover last month. The design is more in tune with Jony Ive’s controversial new design aesthetics that have become the calling card for iOS 7 now. The thinner fonts, flatter icons and gradients that you may find on your iOS 7 enabled devices will be a part of the iCloud website too now.

The website includes not just a whole new look but also new applications. Refreshed versions of Mail, Calendar, Reminders, Notes and Find My iPhone are available on the iCloud website. As it comes out of beta mode, the iCloud website now also included iWork for iCloud too. iWork is Apple’s online productivity consisting of Pages, Numbers and Keynotes and is available in beta on the website. The website also contains an easier way of jumping between applications now.

In the run up to the iOS 7 release, Apple has also released a great new feature referred to as “last compatible version”. According to a Reddit user who spotted it, Apple seems to be offering the last compatible version of an app for older devices now. So, if you use an iOS version 4 and below, your attempt to download an application will see you getting the last one with compatibility with your OS version. This backward compatibility is a great move on Apple’s part to make users of older iOS versions still feel welcome.

Compatible devices will be receiving iOS 7 sometime today.
