Revamped Apple TV will be unveiled at WWDC 2015

While **Apple Watch** is yet to hit store shelves, reports about a new Apple TV to be launched in June have started circulating on the web. According to Buzzfeed, the Cupertino Company will showcase its revamped Apple TV at the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) to be held in June. The company is yet to disclose the exact dates for the conference. Citing sources familiar with the matter, the news site says that Apple will unveil the new Apple TV along with ‘software development kit (SDK) for developers to build apps for the next-generation hardware’. “Apple’s new Apple TV is a significant overhaul of the device, one intended to undergird Apple’s vision of what the TV viewing experience should be, and to raise the table stakes in a set-top box market cluttered with barely differentiated devices from Amazon, Roku, and others,” adds the report. Along with a design change, the Apple TV box is expected to come with the company’s latest A8 system-on-chip or something similar, more on-board storage and an improved operating system that could support voice assistant Siri. Currently, Apple TV supports apps but those are automatically added to the device. The new update will also bring an App Store for the Apple TV, just like we’ve seen for iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad. Of late, there have been **reports** about Apple being in talks with programmers to offer a slimmed-down bundle of TV networks this fall. The service would have about 25 channels, anchored by broadcasters such as ABC, CBS and Fox, and be available across all devices powered by Apple’s iOS operating system, including iPhones, iPads and Apple TV set-top boxes.
