The end of the cycle for the present generation of gaming consoles is near. Many publishers are releasing their best Intellectual Property (IP) of this generation in the form of trilogy packs. After the recent announcement of the Mass Effect Trilogy, the Resistance series is all set to get its own trilogy set. Sony has announced the Resistance trilogy set for the PlayStation 3. It is set to release in the US in winter, and will set you back by $39.99 (around Rs 2,070).
The Resistance Trilogy will contain all three Resistance games, which were PlayStation 3 exclusive, along with downloadable content (DLC) from Resistance 2 (Aftermath Pack and skin bundle), and Resistance 3 (Brutality Pack and Survival Pack).
The Resistance series gets its own Trilogy set
It was recently revealed that the DLC available in the Mass Effect Trilogy will vary depending on the platform. For the PC version, the set will include Bring Down The Sky and Pinnacle Station DLCs for the first game, Cerberus Network DLC for the second game, which includes an extra character and some extra missions and weapons, and the online pass for the third game, which includes an extra character along with some missions and weapons. The Xbox 360 version of the set will only have the Cerberus Network for the second game and the online pass for the third game. There is as of yet, no information about the PlayStation 3 version of the set.
This is a strikingly strange move on EA’s part, as the Trilogy sets or ‘Game of the Year’ sets usually contain all the games along with all the DLCs that the company has released for the games. It is also puzzling to note that EA has chosen to not include Lair of the Shadow Broker, Overlord, or Kasumi in the trilogy set, as these DLC missions have their stories picked up again in the third game.
Another recently announced Trilogy set is the Assassin's Creed Ezio Trilogy. The Assassin’s Creed Ezio Trilogy set will contain the three games that are based around the life of Ezio Auditore. The three games are Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. Along with the games, the bundle will also contain all the DLC for Assassin’s Creed II, such as the Bonfire of the Vanities mission.
The Assassin’s Creed Ezio Trilogy set seems to be a godsend for those who haven’t been able to get into the games, but are now interested because of the hype generated for the next game in the series – Assassin’s Creed III. This game is going to be set during the American fight for independence and will feature a new protagonist – Connor. The game is all set to have some new gameplay mechanics to help the protagonist with better travel environments. Players can use parkour to travel through trees, whereas the new combat system has the capability to dual-wield weapons. The game also showcases the new Anvil engine that allows for a large number of characters to be on screen.
