Reliance Retail's Lyf branded smartphones receive big price drops

Reliance Retail had pushed out a number of Lyf-branded smartphones in the past couple of months even though the company’s 4G network has not been officially launched. However, the affordable handsets made for an easier route to get access to the Jio 4G network, one that is expected to launch by the end of the year. The buzz around the web now points out that most of the smartphones have received some big price cuts. This should now make for an attractive package, especially when you consider the unlimited 4G data deal that comes with it.

The news was first reported by PhoneRadar which claims that dealers have received an official note from the company to bring down the prices. The smartphones in question are the Lyf Water 2, the Lyf Wind 6, Lyf Flame 2, Lyf Flame 4, Lyf Flame  5 and the Lyf Flame 6.

The Lyf Water 2 that was earlier priced at Rs 13,499 will now be priced at Rs 9,499.

Next up is the Lyf Wind 6 that now gets a Rs 500 price drop and will now retail for Rs 5,999.

As for the Lyf Flame 2 it will now be priced at Rs 3,499 instead of the earlier Rs 4,799. The Lyf Flame 4, Lyf Flame  5 and the Lyf Flame 6 get a Rs 1000 price drop and will now retail for just Rs 2,999.

The company recently launched its Lyf Earth 2 smartphone priced at Rs 21,599. It is the only one to not receive a price cut. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM8939, an octa-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz coupled with Adreno 405 GPU and 3GB RAM.
