Reliance Jio 4G VoLTE services to be launched for employees on 27 December: Report

After Bharti Airtel and recently Vodafone India, it now seems that it is time for Reliance to roll out its Jio 4G network in India. Reliance is supposedly holding a massive launch event for the same and the first lucky users to get on to its pan-India 4G network will indeed be its own employees according to sources quoted by  ETTelecom.

The buzz is that Reliance has begun sending out invites for the launch of its 4G services that also happens to coincide with the birth anniversary of Reliance Group Founder Dhirubhai Ambani. The event is set to take place at the Reliance Corporate Park in Mumbai that will be streamed live to a thousand locations across the country.

According to ET , Reliance will be rolling out its 4G services via a VoLTE network. Simply put, this allows voice to travel as data packets over the LTE data network as compared to the current 2G/3G switching for voice or data communication.

Launch event aside, Reliance will also be announcing four 4G VoLTE-enabled smartphones later this month as reported by ET. Reliance is also expected to partner with e-commerce firms like Flipkart, Amazon and others to sell its smartphones branded ‘LYF’ and will be available in ‘Earth’, ‘Wind’ and ‘Fire’ series; the ‘Earth’ series being the premium ones of the lot.
