Red Hydrogen One to come with Snapdragon 835, holographic display, dual SIM, 4,500 mAh battery and more

Red has issued an update about the internals of its upcoming **Red Hydrogen One** smartphone. This gives us an idea of what to expect from the smartphone when it will ship. According to the detailed blog post on reduser.net, Red founder Jim Jannard and Jarred Land are testing the first two working Red Hydrogen devices. Specifications According to the post, the smartphone will come with a new display which will function in two modes. [caption id=“attachment_4318067” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Image: Red[/caption] The first mode, a 2D normal mode, will run normally at a 2K display resolution (2560 x 1440) while the second mode is termed as a 4V holographic mode where the screen of the device will dim a bit while popping out a “better than 3D” image. Jannard reiterated that the display will not require glasses for users to experience holographic images in 3D. adding that “You just have to see it”. The  Hydrogen One will come with a 4,500 mAh battery, microSD card slot, Dual SIM slot, Type-C port and a 3.5-mm headphone jack. The device will pack in something called ‘multi-channel spatial sound’ along with a ‘multi-component modular system’ where users can add mods to customise their device using the pogo pin system that Red will add at the back of their device. The pogo pin will allow modules to provide power in both directions and users can stack multiple modules on top of each other. This means that you can add an external ‘battery module’ in addition to the ‘cinema-grade camera module’, all of which will work simultaneously. He pointed out that the company is looking at “sometime in the summer.” The people who have pre-ordered unlocked devices will get the device before that. HYDROGEN Network Red is working on creating a ‘HYDROGEN Network’ which is one place where all the smartphone users will get all their 4V holographic content. The company has already showcased the prototype devices to its content partners ranging from major studios to other content providers. The company is planning to organise a HYDROGEN Day at its RED Studios to preview the **holographic 4V technology** while helping out creators with tips on how to be a content provider with the network around April. Holographic Display Jarred also added details about how the 4V is different from the usual 2D mode, pointing out that the pixel resolution of both the display modes is similar, ensuring that the content files are not massive when it comes to downloading them onto the device. The only difference is the resolution perception between the two modes. According to the post, “the horizontal resolution of 2D is now split into depth layers”. This means that you are no longer looking at a picture on the display and instead, you are looking into the picture.
