Razer's Synapse 2.0 replaces hardware profiles with cloud storage

Razer recently unveiled their all new Synapse 2.0 application for storing your personalized peripheral settings in the cloud thus making your settings for gaming available virtually anytime, anywhere. First announced in 2006, Synapse was the world’s first onboard memory feature for gaming peripherals, which allowed the user to store gaming macros, key binds, and profiles directly to their Razer devices, and enabled gamers to bring their personalized settings with them on the go. Version 2.0 takes this to the next level by harnessing next-gen, cloud-based technology to ensure that you have full access to all of your peripheral hardware settings, anytime, anywhere at tournaments, LAN centers, at home and at the office, thus rendering hardware profiles obsolete.

Synapse 2.0 will also let you access your custom settings while using Razer peripherals provided by a tournament host, for instance, enabling you to spend less time setting up controls and more time gaming. It will also automatically download drivers, game add-ons, and firmware updates as they become available, ensuring your Razer devices are always updated. The software is currently in an internal Beta stage and will launch shortly along with next-gen Razer products. The software should also be backwards compatible with existing Razer products although we don’t have an official list yet. One mouse we know for sure that will be compatible is the Razer Naga. In fact, the next stage of the closed Beta will be rolled out initially to 500 select Razer Naga users. You can sign up for the Beta here.
