Upset about the condition of roads in your area or the hawker menace on the footpaths? You will now be able to rate your MLAs, MPs and miscellaneous government services online and air your grievances.

You can now log on to this website called iForIndia.org to rate your elected government servants on the basis of amenities provided in the constituency. “Through this initiative, Indian citizens can rate services such as roads, electricity, clean drinking water, law and order, security and issues such as corruption and statements in public among others, specific to their area. Since these issues are the responsibility of an MLA, MP, CM and ultimately the PM, these ratings are used to generate report cards for each of these elected officials,” reads a statement issued by the website.

In an attempt to bridge the gap between elected officials and the voters, the website will present a report card that will reflect the collective scores of each constituency on it. The portal has been founded by Ankur Garg, an IIM-A alumnus who wondered why elected representatives are not given a report card for their performances while trying to work on their constituencies. “This is a unique opportunity for a meaningful engagement between the common man and the elected officials and will hopefully prove to be a catalyst in the evolution of democracy in our country,” he says.

While having a portal to air grievances online is a wonderful idea, the website tries to address the issue of proxy marking as well. To register on the website, you need to send in your mobile numbers as a way to avoid multiple accounts on the website. The website also has fraud check algorithms in place to avoid cheating and rigging of any kind.
