The Snapdragon 615 is expected to power mid-range smartphones and tablets whereas the higher end 810 and 808 series CPUs will be seen in high-end smartphones which support 4G technology. The Snapdragon 810 and 808 along with the 615 will be manufactured at the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) using the 20nm manufacturing process.

According to industry sources that have spoken to DigiTimes, the adoption of 8-core smartphones will not result in hike in the prices as the current prices of 8-core smartphones in China have been falling under CNY 1000 (around Rs 9,500).  Also, the sources say that smartphones powered by 4G and 64-bit chipset solutions are likely to lead in the race for hardware specifications in the smartphone space in 2014.
