After numerous delays we finally get an approximate release date for Splash Damages’ upcoming Quake Wars and that is that the game can be out anytime between July and August… if publisher Activision’s financial report is to be believed.
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars pits the armies of Earth against the invading alien Strogg in an online strategic shooter. Players choose to battle as one of five unique classes in either the EDF (Earth Defense Force – humans) or the barbaric alien Strogg armies. Troops use 40+ conventional and futuristic vehicles, deployable structures, and defense systems like quad-bikes, tanks, and alien walkers for epic ground assaults; or helicopters and anti-gravity ships to lend firepower from the air. Throughout each battle, teams establish bases, deploy defense structures, artillery, radar, and advanced forward-command systems into enemy territory while constructing and demolishing obstacles to speed progress and gain a tactical advantage over the enemy.
You will have to make do with this information for the time being since Activision are very tight lipped about the game’s release date (they’re sticking to the whole “when it’s done” bit) but PC gamers should take solace in the fact that they will receive the game before it hits the Xbox 360 and the PS3.
Nash, as he prefers being called, woke up to the wonders of gaming rather late but don't bring that up around him. It's a touchy subject. A self confessed Battlefield veteran, Nash spent a good part of 2010 on the Steam Battlefield - with Bad Company (see what we did there?). He has a zero tolerance policy towards RTS games but is currently showing an interest by picking up and moving people - who he refers to as units - in the office.
