Prisma copies Instagram; Introduces location based feed and profiles

Prisma has launched a new update which introduces an image feed and profiles like the ones available in Instagram. The introduction of this new feature comes months after Facebook copied Prisma-like artsy filters for the live videos posted using the Facebook app. The newly added image feed is not as simple as the chronological list. Instead, the feel is location-based, and you can only see the photos shared by people around you. ![Prisma Feed, Profile Instagram Copy](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/2016-12-21_134559.jpg) According to The Next Web the more the images gain popularity by the like system, the more reach the image gains. After sufficient of likes, the image can gain enough popularity to cover “the whole world”. There is no comment system at the moment except the double tap to “like” the photos where a heart appears as an overlay on the picture for a second. The system works almost similar to Instagram. Prisma is late to the adding new features and copying game, but it is essential for the growth of the app. Instagram has been following the suite under Facebook as it copies features from Prisma as well as Instagram. ![Prisma Feed, Profile Instagram Copy](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/2016-12-21_135853.jpg) Earlier this year, Instagram killed the location based photo discovery tool, but Prisma seems to rely on the same to track images being shared around the world. On visiting profiles by people, it appears that they have been posting photos for quite some time which is strange as it has only been some hours since the introduction of the feed. It seems that the company is pulling photos shared on Facebook to populate the user feed, but it could not be clarified at the time of writing. The Feed is divided into two parts, the upper portion is ‘Discover’ section where the lower portion has the ‘following’ section where you see the images shared by your friends and the people you follow. The Discover section is further divided into ‘Trending’ and ‘Most Recent’ image sections. ![Prisma Feed, Profile Instagram Copy](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/2016-12-21_135833.jpg) Also, Prisma has increased the resolution from 1080 x 1080 pixels to cover a maximum of 2300 pixels on the longest axis in the latest update. They have removed the 1:1 photo ratio to keep into account the different aspect ratios of the cameras out there. Apart from the improved quality on high-resolution screens, the increased resolution will also allow users to take passable prints using their printers to make some easy home-made artistic posters or as gift wrapping papers.
