If, like all of us, you’ve been waiting for a new proper Prince of Persia game, here’s something to keep you occupied till Ubisoft finally gets around to making a real game in the franchise. The game, dubbed Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame, is out now for iOS and Android devices and costs Rs 200 on Google Play and Rs 170 on the iTunes App Store .

The game is essentially a remake of the classic Brøderbund game from 1993—Prince of Persia 2. It features completely redone graphics and controls optimised for touchscreen devices. The core gameplay is still the same; gamers have to jump, fight and solve puzzles as they navigate through the treacherous city skyline and castle in their quest to rescue the princess. However, Ubisoft has stated that the game features a completely new combat system. Ubisoft has released a trailer for the game. Check it out:

Prince of Persia 2 picks up the story right where the first game left off, with the prince awaiting his marriage to the princess, but being betrayed and forced to run for his life. Much like the remake of the original Prince of Persia, the remake has a 2.5-dimensional art style, but the gameplay is still a 2D sidescroller. It also features the character design of the fondly-remembered Prince of Persia: Sands of Time series, albeit without any of the time-related gameplay mechanics.

The next game in the series would be Prince of Persia 3D, but we hope that no one actually remakes that.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
