Just three days after launching its latest iPhones, Apple will start taking pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus from today, 12:01 AM Pacific time onwards. Though Apple has not given a specific time on its website, the Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T websites say they will start accepting pre-orders at 12:01 AM PT.
Last year, only the iPhone 5c was put up for pre-order, though this time is going to be different. Apple has allowed consumers to pre-order the 4.7-inch as well as the 5.5-inch model and will start shipping them after September 19. The US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico and Singapore are some of the countries that will be able to pre-order their iPhones today.
Apple is said to accept orders through its own website as well as the Apple Store app. Users can also buy the device from Verizon , Sprint , AT&T and T-Mobile and retailers such as Best Buy, RadioShack, Walmart , and Target. However, timings may vary among retailers.
The iPhone 6 costs $199 for the base model with 16GB of storage, $299 for a 64GB model and $399 for a 128GB model (with contract). The 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus costs $100 extra – $299 for a 16 GB model, $399 for 64GB and $499 for the 128 GB model. Older models get a price cut, the iPhone 5S will now sell for $99 and iPhone 5C for free with contract. Users can opt for space grey, silver or gold options.
If a report by DigiTimes is to be believed, Apple aims to ship about 80 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units by the end of the year. To achieve this, the company has asked supply chain partners to accelerate component production. This would be possible only if the company doesn’t hit any production issues. If some of recent reports are to believed, the iPhone 6 sale in China and India is likely to be delayed .
