Poster in China shows new Xiaomi phone called 5X, rumoured as first phone under new sub-brand

Rumours have continued to circulate about a new Xiaomi sub-brand apart from the Mi and Redmi series. One of the new phones under this brand is apparently going to be called the Xiaomi 5X and not X1 as it was earlier predicted by Gizbot. The leak which had appeared in the previous week had only shown the pricing of the phone which is at 1,999 yuan (around Rs 19,000). This time a poster which originated in China has shed light on the name and specs of the phone. The poster stated that the phone will be called as 5X and would be coming with a 5.5-inch display that will probably support full HD resolution. The Snapdragon 625 chipset will be powering the phone along with 4GB of RAM. Xiaomi has roped in popular Chinese celebrity, Kris Wu for the promotion of the phone. Wu had earlier been the face of Huawei but it seems that their contract has now ended. The Xiaomi 5X is expected to feature a thin metallic body and it is expected to arrive in color choices of gold and black, like the one being held by Wu in the poster. ![Xiaomi](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Xiaomi.jpg) An earlier leak had indicated that the new flagship phone had a dual rear cameras coupled with a dual-tone dual-LED flash on its left. This leaked photo of the phone can be assumed to be the 5X as it seems similar in design to the one being held by Wu in the poster. The Chinese firm is known for launching smartphones in multiple storage variants. Hence, it is likely that this pricing could probably belong to the lowest configuration model of Xiaomi 5X. It may be also likely that Xiaomi will be looking to sell this phone through offline channels after observing the immense success of Vivo and Oppo through the same.
