In an interview with gamesutra.com , Running with Scissors CEO, Vince Desi bears his heart and soul about Postal 3 and the whole development process. For those who’ve come in a bit late, developer RWS is planning on developing the third Postal installment using Valve’s Source engine for the Xbox360 and the PC.
When asked about Postal 3’s gameplay, here’s what he had to say, “We are working hard on a design that will continue the open sandbox style of game play, and at the same time we are adding new elements which will help the player have a more entertaining experience. We learned from Postal 2 that so much of the content was never even seen, let alone played. Clearly the open sandbox approach can be a double edged blade when it comes to designing game play.
Bottom line is we’re designing Postal III to be a big game, an open game, a multiplayer game, a funny game, and most of all a fun game to play over and over. This requires not just a lot of content, but elements and features worth using and doing, not just eye candy; AI is critical.”
Don’t get too excited (or revolted) yet; according to Vince, Postal 3 will take at least 2 years to make, and we know a lot can happen till then.
Nash, as he prefers being called, woke up to the wonders of gaming rather late but don't bring that up around him. It's a touchy subject. A self confessed Battlefield veteran, Nash spent a good part of 2010 on the Steam Battlefield - with Bad Company (see what we did there?). He has a zero tolerance policy towards RTS games but is currently showing an interest by picking up and moving people - who he refers to as units - in the office. Thank God he's not that enthusiastic about Angry Birds or we'd be seeing women flying all over the place. Bali... Bali, put the receptionist down now.
