POP is a portable charger that sticks on your smartphone

Smartphones are getting beefier in terms of hardware and performance but this also makes them consume more battery life, which is probably one of the biggest pain points for the consumer. There are certain smartphones that can last two or three days at the most, but we are still waiting for that revolutionary battery that would last us a week, or maybe a month. Coming back to reality, the best way to keep your smartphone running all day is to carry the wall charger with you at all times, or better, a portable power bank.The power bank has become an important smartphone accessory and the past two years have seen a major spike in the sale of these battery juice providers. Smartphone cases with built in batteries have become a thing of the past because not only did they add bulk to your smartphones, but they were only available for certain popular handsets. A new crowd-funded project aims to bring the best of both the worlds. POP is a a portable battery pack that can stick on to the back of your smartphone and charge it via a flexible cable that goes into the charging port. The power bank isn’t very big and while it will add a certain bulk to your smartphone, it still looks better than an awkward bulging case. The best part is that this power bank comes with a removable 1,800mAh battery, a Samsung Galaxy S2 battery to be precise. So basically you can carry multiple charged batteries and just swap them while you are on the go, which just so happens to be removable. The POP also has a microUSB port so you can charge the battery inside. The accessory is priced at $15 (Rs 990 approx) without the battery and with the 1,800 mAh certified battery it goes for $22 (Rs 1,452 approx). There are other offerings as well comprising of multiple add-on batteries. POP is currently a crowd-funded project on Indiegogo and is available for Android (microUSB) and Apple devices.
