Yahoo! Inc has tied up with Pontiac, a division of General Motors Corp. to launch a new online social platform, for Pontiac owners and enthusiasts, called Pontiac Underground. The Web site, aimed at automobile enthusiasts across the world, combines social media content such as Flickr photos, Yahoo! Answers, Yahoo! Video, and Yahoo! Groups with consumer-created Pontiac content from Pontiac fan communities throughout the Web.
Pontiac Underground, is designed in partnership with interactive agency Digitas, to provide the community of modifiers, car-magazine subscribers or people who are just passionate about cars, with an aggregated view of the online scenario about Pontiac. The website also offers its users, the ability to participate in the online forum by uploading, commenting and voting on content.
Users will be able to add photos and videos from online photo sharing site, Yahoo! Flickr. These galleries will allow users to see relevant multimedia content aggregated from across Yahoo! and the Web. With the help of the Pontiac Informer, users may read the latest Pontiac-related articles, links and information from other sites, submit their own directly, and rate them up or down. This feature also pulls relevant Pontiac links from deli.cio.us.
The site also offers its users a platform for knowledge sharing, with the integration of Yahoo! Answers. Besides, an aggregated list of Pontiac clubs, Yahoo! Groups and events will allow users to connect both online and offline.
Another feature is the 'Inside Track', which is designed to be used as a platform for communication with Pontiac enthusiasts. The 'Inside Track' blog will provide users with exclusive news and images directly from Pontiac.
Pontiac Marketing Director Mark-Hans Richer said, "With Yahoo!'s leading social media platform, it's exciting to finally be able to bring our GTO fans, G6 fans, Solstice fans, old Firebird or Chief fans, Vibe fans - all Pontiac online communities together. Pontiac Underground is almost all consumer-generated - it's their community, we're just trying to add to it."
