Allan Alcorn, better known as the designer of the original Pong game, has started a Kickstarter campaign for a game called Seriously?!. The game will use a “Siri-like” character that will run it and ask players trivia questions. The game consists of a special deck of cards and a free app for devices running on iOS and Android.
The Siri-like character will comment on its progress and players, judge all the answers, and will generally be entertaining, according to the game’s Kickstarter page.
Cards that are played in the game include True/False, Multiple Guess questions, pictures, videos and general miscellaneous stuff drawn from both the real world as well as pop-culture and even obscure topics. These cards will be read by smartphones and tablets that have the game, which is where the Siri-like game hostess will kick in.
More like Siri-ously… GEDDIT?
The special draw of the Kickstarter campaign is that anyone who backs it, even those pledging the lowest possible amount, can submit and unlimited number of their own trivia questions and answers. Anyone whose question makes it into the game will get a Game Designer credit. 50 more more accepted questions get a Senior Game Designer credit, and 100 or more accepted questions get a Master Game Designer credit as well as a personal trivia card created just for them.
Trivia submissions have to fall in one or more of six categories: Slackers (people), Modern Maddness (places and things), Civilization’s Decline (historical stuff), Visual Stimulation (picture or video), Twisted Entertainment (show business) or Creepy Oddities (strange and miscellaneous).
At the time of publishing, the campaign has 30 backers and has achieved $1,888 of the $100,000 goal. The campaign has 27 days to go.
