Polaroid is a brand that you would usually associate with photography as the company has been known to make instant cameras and films for quite some time now. They recently made the Cube , a tiny action camera, which didn’t see a lot of popularity. While their camera business lost all the fizz a few years back, the company had started venturing into making eye-wear products. That hasn’t worked out very well for the company either. Now it has started venturing into making LED TVs. Polaroid, in partnership with Google, has announced four new 4K Ultra HD LED TVs. Thanks to this partnership, Polaroid has managed to equip the new TVs with Google Cast ,which lets users throw media onto the display directly from their compatible smartphones, tablets and PCs. The TVs don’t come with an inbuilt OS but thanks to the casting feature, one might not need that. The new Ultra HD LED TVs have been announced in four different sizes including 43, 50, 55 and 65 inches. All four of them offer 4K resolution which means a native resolution of 3840x2160 at a refresh rate of 120hz. Polaroid has done its homework and offers a sleek design along with slim bezels. All four models come with HDMI 2.0 with support for HEVC (H.265) video codec. The cost sounds pretty good as the company has priced the 43-inch model for just $499 (Rs 33,000 approx) which is close to the price of a 32-inch full HD smart TV in India. The pricing goes up to $999 (Rs 66,000 approx) for the 65-inch model and the company will be launching a 75-inch model for $1899 (Rs 1,26,000) in a few months. Polaroid CEO Scott W. Hardy said, “By teaming up with a company such as Google, we are able to offer consumers the latest in TV technology so they can easily share and enjoy their favourite content, and more importantly, deliver tremendous value to those looking to upgrade to a higher-resolution.”
