Pokémon GO was officially launched in India thanks to Reliance Jio partnering with Niantic. As part of the partnership, there are many exclusives available to Pokémon trainers within Jio applications.

The JioChat app has a channel dedicated to the social aspects of the game.  The channel will feature daily tips, contests, clues and special events. Trainers can use the channel to organise Pokéwalks, plan Magikarp farming excursions or identify nests.

The channel has trainers posting regular news updates or discussing strategies. Reliance Digital Stores and Jio outlets across the country will double up as Pokéstops and gyms. The game launched on 14 December in India, five months after it was first released . John Hanke,

Chief Executive Officer and founder of Niantic had said “We are delighted to partner with Jio to launch Pokémon GO in India. It’s exciting to see Pokémon fans in India step out and explore their neighbourhoods in search of Pokémon and Jio’s disruptive high speed 4G LTE Network will be an excellent way to experience the game.”

For Ingress, Niantic had to actively plan and set up events. The Pokémon GO trainers have taken the onus upon themselves to organise events, gatherings, and even Pokémon hunting flashmobs. The dedicated Pokémon GO channel on JioChat will encourage this self organisation of events. For trainers just starting to play the game, here is everything you need to know to get started .
