Xiaomi has begun pushing out a beta update for
**POCO F1** users who were part of the beta program and it does bring a number of important additions to the phone. The biggest highlight of the update is the inclusion of the ability to shoot 960 fps slow-motion video. The MIUI 10.8.12.4 beta update not only allows users to shoot at 960 fps but also allows the option to capture slow-motion video at 120 fps and 240 fps. The update also introduces a ‘Super low-light’ mode or a night mode for shots in poorly lit situations. [caption id=“attachment_5065211” align=“alignnone” width=“1024”] The POCO F1 starts at a price of Rs 20,999. Image: Tech2/ Shomik Sen Bhattacharjee[/caption] For those wondering how this works on the POCO F1, the approach is similar to the night mode on the recently launched Huawei Mate 20 Pro. The camera captures eight images together at different exposures and merges them into one for a brighter shot. Needless to say that this will require steady hands to execute.
POCO fans! We are not done for the day. Now shoot videos at 960fps and take amazing pics using the super low-light mode.

These features are only available in the latest beta version of MIUI 10 for POCO, so handle it with a little care. 🙂 pic.twitter.com/CtXoFuGt6Y
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a Xiaomi device feature the ‘Super low-light’ mode. As noted in a report by XDADevelopers, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S and the Mi Mix 3 (both phones which have a Snapdragon 845 SoC) also had the feature. The beta update was announced by POCO India General Manager, Manmohan Chandolu on Twitter and users will be able to sideload it in case it isn’t showing up as an OTA update yet. The update package does come in at 1.7 GB so make sure you have enough data to download it. However, if you are on the beta track the update is only a 184 MB download. The update also features a revamp of the Apps section in the Settings menu.
